how Should i dispose of an expired fire extinguisher?

we will properly decommission any unwanted fire extinguisher that is not classified as hazardous waste. care must be taken in depressurizing, breaking down, and recycling the different components; therefore we charge a $10 fee per extinguisher but we will gladly waive the fee if a new extinguisher is purchased.

how often should my fire extinguisher be serviced?

commercial fire extinguishers require a full maintenance inspection to be performed every 12 months by a certified fire extinguisher inspection agency. additionally, a visual inspection should be performed monthly by the property owner or a responsible designee.

residential extinguishers should be visibly inspected monthly to ensure they are ready for use and recharged or replaced if the gauge falls outside of the green area.

is there any difference between a commercial Extinguisher
and one from a big box store?

commercially rated fire extinguishers are constructed with metal valve bodies and higher quality components; which make them serviceable, rechargeable, and more resistant to pressure leakage then their disposable counterparts.

what may seem like a less expensive option, can end up costing more over time if they need to replaced every few years due to pressure.
